Our Story
Bushmount Nursing Home is situated in the heart of Clonakilty town on six acres of mature gardens with sweeping lawns and stately trees. It was initially opened in 1956 by the Sisters of Charity of St Paul as a home for retired priests. Sean and Anne took over the ownership of the Nursing home on April 1st, 2009 and renamed it Bushmount Nursing Home. Having already successfully taken over, and continue to run, our sister home in Drimoleague, Sean & Anne brought a wealth of experience and a passion for providing our elder population with person centered care. They have expanded our home to what it is today, providing care for 79 residents.
Our Mission
The care we provide at Bushmount Nursing Home is characterized by respect for the residents, respect for their values, and respect for their expressed needs. Our care is guaranteed by communication with the residents and their families, by providing physical comfort, emotional support, and alleviating any fear or anxiety that may exist.
Our ethos is that “the resident is the most important person.”
At Bushmount Nursing Home we aim to ensure the maximum possible individual care and attention for all of the residents of the home.
We have identified five core values and principles as a target in the management of the care of those living in the home:
- Person Centered Approach
- Enabling Choice
- Respecting privacy and dignity
- Preserving continuity of life experience and care provision
- Providing Emotional Care
