Will I have to leave all my belongings behind me when I go into the Nursing Home?
We encourage all residents at Bushmount to personalize their rooms with their own furniture and personal belongings. Our Maintenance department will assist in hanging pictures and paintings.
Will I have any say in the running of the Nursing Home?
At Bushmount, we hold regular Resident Meetings. This is an opportunity for you to vocally express your wishes, learn about changes, new plans, activities etc. and it is a time for Residents to express and discuss matters of importance to them. If you feel that you cannot express any issues openly at this meeting then our Director of Nursing or our advocate is available to talk privately at a time that suits you.
What kind of facilities can I expect in a Nursing Home?
All rooms in Bushmount are private and most have a private bathroom, there is a TV with SaorView channels in each room and a phone. If a resident would like to have SKY installed this will be organized for them. We have a chapel for bi-weekly mass and we have several large and comfortable sitting rooms, a family room and extensive gardens.
Will I be able to go on holiday or stay overnight with family and friends?
You will always be encouraged to go on holiday or visit family overnight. Staff will assist you in any way you need e.g. transportation, medication, escorts.
Will my family and friends be able to come and visit me?
Of course they can. We openly welcome visitors. Our official visiting hours are 11:00hrs to 13:00hrs and 14:00hrs to 17:00hrs, 7 days a week. However, accommodations can be made outside of these times, just contact us.

Will I lose my independence when I move into a Nursing Home?
At Bushmount Nursing it is our ethos of care to promote our residents independence. We provide care that is supportive and not restrictive. We encourage our residents to be as independent as possible and offer expert input to enable this e.g. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and speech and language therapy.
Will I be able to choose what I do each day?
At Bushmount Nursing Home we want you to continue your usual daily routine and ensure your likes and dislikes are respected in all aspects of your day. From the times you eat breakfast to what time you go to bed. Your choices of food and your choice of varied activities accommodated as much as possible.
What activities take place in the Nursing Home?
Bushmount Nursing Home is a happy, lively place to be. Residents choice and preferences are always respected but residents are always encouraged to try new things. Our activities include gardening, cooking, baking, art, music, crafts/knitting, exercise, meditation or any activity that you may enjoy. As far as possible we will make sure that you continue to enjoy the pastimes you love.
We are very pro-active in engaging with our local community to bring people and residents together for social outings. A full schedule of activities is available to every resident, with residents who prefer smaller groups or one to one interactions always catered for also. Will my dietary needs be catered for?
At Bushmount Nursing Home our kitchen is run by qualified Chefs who endeavor to use seasonal and local produce. All our food is freshly prepared including our brown bread, scones and cakes. Our Chefs are passionate about nutrition and the presentation of their food and are qualified to provide for all and any dietary requirements.
